The weather was mostly overcast, but it brought out a large diverse crowd, fascinated with the NYTTS display. Society members Judith Barber, Bill Cermak, Matt Hybel, Kathy Rumpler, Anita and Allen Salzberg, Frank Schneider, and Jim Van Abbema all fielded turtle questions.

Native New York species included an Eastern Box Turtle, a Diamondback Terrapin, a Florida Box Turtle, a Common Musk Turtle, and a Common Snapping Turtle. Out-of-state American turtles included an Alligator Snapping Turtle and a Red-eared Slider. Non-native species included a Burmese Brown Tortoise, a Costa Rican Ornate Wood Turtle, a South American Red-foot Tortoise, an African Hinge-back Tortoise, and a Giant Asian Pond Turtle.

The event is sponsored annually by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and the Urban Park Rangers. This year we returned again to Highbridge Park in upper Manhattan.
